CASSELTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Casselton avenged a loss from two weeks ago beating Valley City 6-3 to split their 2 regional meetings this year. The Haymakers also took the non-region 5 inning game 9-5.

Valley City Post 60 travels to Enderlin Wednesday night for a non-regional game with The Railcats. First pitch is 6, pregame is at 5:50 on KOVC 1490 AM-96.3 FM and NewsDakota.com

Game 1: Casselton 6 vs. Valley City 3

After a run scored in the 1st, Casselton starter Jonah Lietz kept Post 60 scoreless for the next 4 innings. Valley City was able to get 2 runners home in the 6th but it wasn’t enough for a comeback.

Avery Bennefeld had 2 of Valley City’s 4 hits. Riley Miller and Jacob Johnson both drove in runs. Casselton’s Jacob Halverson drove in a pair of run with a double.

Easton Hesch took the loss for Valley City pitching 4 innings, he gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts.

Game 2: Casselton 9 vs. Valley City 5 ( 5 innings)

Casselton was able to score multiple runs in each inning they went to the plate while Valley City’s scoring came from a 4 run 2nd and a run in the 3rd.

Jacob Johnson drove in 3 runs with a triple to lead Post 60. Halverson had another strong game at the plate for Casselton with 3 hits, 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

Conner May pitched 2 1/3 for Valley City in a losing effort. Devin Anderson worked the final 1 2/3.
