JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown students and faculty will be greeted with a multitude of different renovations and improvements when school resumes this fall.

Greg Ross, VP of Finance & Business Affairs, states that the campus has six major projects their currently working on at this time.

Ross pointed out that their focus this summer is to enhance the student experience by creating physical spaces for their students and athletes to succeed.

“We feel like the projects we have going on this summer will do that,” Ross stated.

Ross says one of their new projects is a new entrance sign on the East side of the campus.

Another item the University needed to address was the usage of the Hansen Center. Now that the Harold Newman Arena houses the football locker room and volleyball, it’s left the center empty. Ross says they’re converting that space to give back to the students.

Ross says the library is also site to some renovations. He says their adding what they’re calling a Student Success Center that will give students access to tutoring, academic advising, career services and more.

On the sports side of renovations, Ross says they’re looking at adding new overhead lights on the turf field as well as overhauling the Larson Center weight room.

One other project is the beginning construction of an addition to the Sorkness Center to house the senior lab for mechanical engineering students.

Below are some photos of the ongoing construction and renovations.
