JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department and Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office will be getting to know the community they serve during National Night Out August 7th.

National Night Out is an annual community building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser says the event will allow residents to get to know their local agencies and officials that serve the area.

Jamestown Police Officer Andrew Staska describes the event as a community block party.

Jamestown Police Sgt. Shane Gallagher says this will be the first time a National Night Out has been held in Jamestown.

Several other communities have participated including Williston, Minot, and Carrington. This year with be the 35th rendition of the national event.

Other departments have been invited to the event including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Jamestown Ambulance, Jamestown Fire Department and Rural Fire Department.

Officer Staska says everything in the event is free.

The event takes place at McElroy Park in Jamestown from 6 PM to 9 PM Tuesday, August 7th. For more on National Night Out, click here.
