EDGELEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man has been arrested after he caused a crash that badly injured an Aberdeen, SD woman Saturday near Edgeley.

85 year-old Jean Hanson was injured and needed to be extricated from her vehicle after striking a truck pulling a livestock trailer just after 2 PM. 21 year-old Jose Mendosa-Sanchez failed to stop at a stop sign on a township road when he pulled out onto Highway 281 and was struck by Hanson’s Impala.

The pickup and trailer came to rest with the trailer partially blocking the southbound lane. The Impala came to rest in the ditch. Hanson was airlifted to a Fargo Hospital.

Mendosa-Sanchez was originally charged with Disregarding a Stop Sign and No Driver’s License. The LaMoure County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mendosa-Sanchez for Reckless Endangerment with Extreme Indifference.

He’s currently being held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center.

An Aberdeen woman was injured after striking a man who failed to stop on Highway 281 Saturday.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that 21 year-old Jose Mendosa-Sanchez was towing an empty livestock trailer on a township road when he failed to stop at a stop sign. He was struck by an Impala just after 2 PM.

The pickup and trailer came to rest facing southbound on Highway 281 with the trailer partially blocking the southbound lane. 85 year-old Jean Hanson of Aberdeen was extracted from her vehicle and airlifted to a Fargo Hospital.

Mendosa-Sanchez faces charges of Disregarding A Stop Sign and No Driver’s License.

The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol. The LaMoure County Sheriff’s Department assisted.
