VC Saints Edge Enderlin in State Tournament Opener

 

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Valley City Saints advanced in the winners bracket of The North Dakota Amateur Baseball Tournament. Wednesday night they beat The Enderlin Indies 3-1 in their opening round match up.

The Saints started the scoring in the first. Brady Anderson led off with a double and came home on a hit by Manny Leyva. Enderlin found the tying run in the 3rd and the game would stay knotted up until the 6th.

Nate Rodriguez put Valley City back on top driving in Austin Smith with a base hit to left field. Aiden Brook added an insurance run in the 7th on a sac fly that scored Brian Fike.

Jesse Johnson pitched all 7 innings for The Saints not allowing an earned run. He registered 5 strikeouts. Indies starter Kalton Agnes worked 6 innings strikings out 11.

Saturday morning Valley City will meet The Cass County Catfish at 10am. They advanced with 14-0 win over Steele.
