VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- It seems the last couple seasons VCSU hasn’t been able to to stay the course when it’s comes to the plan for the offensive line. A string of injuries, position changes and players leaving for post collegiate opportunities caused late shuffles in the line up heading into previous fall camps.

The changes didn’t stop in camp last season, the second half of the schedule saw freshmen Berkley Santos and Jared Mendoza play significant time on the line due to injuries.

Camp opened for VCSU this year with a strong contingent of players including four, Mendoza, Santos, Cole Kelly and Dalton Wasankari, who made starts last season.

Lone senior linemen Dalton Wasankari feels that the line has taken some big steps forward because of the experience they return

The Vikings schedule for 2018 features 3 teams currently ranked in The NAIA Top 25, No.7 Northwestern College, No.25 Dakota State and No.13 Dickinson and a pair of meetings with the 2 teams picked to finish 5th and 6th in The NSAA, Presentation College and Mayville State.

Regardless of that week’s opponent, junior JohnL Jones says the drive needs to always be the same

VCSU will battle rival Jamestown Saturday August 25th in their season opener, they open at home September 1st against No.7 Northwestern College. Vikings football can be heard all season long on KOVC 1490 AM- 96.3 FM and NewsDakota.com
