VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The second Dinner in the Valley to emphasize the importance of agriculture was held at the Sheyenne Riverbend Farm south of Valley City on September 10th.

The dinner was created to be an educational event for community members to ask farmers and ranchers about the important role of production agriculture has in this state.

Soybean farmer Monte Peterson said the current tariff war between the US and China has many producers wondering what will happen this year.

NDSU Barnes County Extension Educator Randy Grueneich said soybean producers are nervous but hoping for the best.

Red Trail Vineyard owner Rodney Hogen talked about his 16 year old vineyard near Buffalo, North Dakota and how it’s evolved over the last decade and a half.

Hogen added that 2018 was a great growing year for grapes in North Dakota.
