JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Friday, Governor Doug Burgum announced that Jamestown is recognized with the Mobilizer Award for the Get Fit & Explore Initiative.

The 2018 Main Street Awards are announced to honor communities showing excellence in elevating the three pillars of Governor Burgum’s Main Street Initiative.

The mobilizer award recognizes community efforts in creating “convenient, inviting and multimodal transportation options for residents and visitors.” Projects focus on walk-ability and biking to create accessible communities.

“Jamestown has worked diligently to differentiate and enhance the quality of life for their residents, present and future,” Burgum said. “It’s with great pleasure and gratitude that we recognize them with this award for efforts to enhance their vibrant community.”

The Main Street Awards are a collaborative effort of the Office of Governor Doug Burgum, North Dakota Department of Commerce and North Dakota League of Cities. The 2018 awards will be presented during the North Dakota League of Cities Annual Conference on September 13-15, Grand Forks Alerus Center.
