VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- It was the battle you’d expect from two top 5 EDC teams Thursday night at The HAC. Valley City and Devils Lake were neck and neck through 4 sets with The Firebirds ultimately coming away with the win 21-25, 25-22, 26-24, 30-28.

In total there were 32 ties, in the 4th set the score was even 7 times after both teams reached 20 points.

Defense shined for The Hi-Liners. Grace Scheer had 36 digs followed by Cali Halgrimson with 33. Also in double figures were Macy Olstad with 18 and Josie Berntson with 16. Taryn Dieterle collected 8 blocks and Lindsey Noeske 7.

Halgrimson and Olstad both had 13 kills. Noeske added 5 and Jadyn Dieterle 4. Berntson led the team in assist with 20 while Natalie Lemnus registered 12.

The loss drops VCHS to 6-3 in The EDC, Devils Lake is now 8-2. The Firebirds play at Shanley Tuesday and The Hi-Liners remain at home with Fargo North coming to town.
