OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Oakes junior Nicole Schmitz registered a team high 15 kills to go along with 10 aces, and hit the 1,000 career kill mark as the Tornadoes swept South Border three sets to none Thursday night.

The Tornadoes (17-2, 3-0 District 5) won by scores of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14. Marisa Garza had 11 kills, while Jaida Seyer had four kills and two aces in the victory.

The Mustangs (3-7, 1-1- District 6) were lead by Emily St. Aubin and Myckea Gross with five kills each.

South Border competes in Bismarck at the Shiloh Invitational this weekend, while Oakes does not suit up until September 27, when they welcome Barnes County North. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM The Tornado and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15 p.m., with first serve at 7:30.
