VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Hi-Liners have a chance to extend their winning streak to 3 Friday night when The Devils Lake Firebirds come to town for homecoming.

Valley City is coming off a 26-20 win against Wahpeton in a game that came down to the final play. Avery Bennefeld scored the winning touchdown on a 20 yard catch on a drive that was primarily in the air.

All season The Hi-Liners have relayed on 2 key receivers, Bennefeld and Sam Beierle, who have combined for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns. Coach Scott Roerich says they do a great job creating match up problems

 

The physical running game of Wahpeton kept Valley City’s offense off the field for much of the game last week. Devils Lake will bring another run heavy offense to Hanna Field, The Firebirds average 242 yards rushing with 73 passing per game. After last game, The Hi-Liners have a better understanding of what they need to win

 

The Tailgate Party at Hanna Field ,sponsored by the Valley City Education Association, starts at 5:30. The pregame show on KOVC 1490 AM/ 96.3 FM starts around 6:45.
