Coach’s Comments

We have really ramped things up as a team.  We did not have our best match against Shanley last week, but our players stepped it up.

Against Century, we had to move indoors to play as the courts were still wet.  This was a great experience for our players as we will be seeing some indoor action at the EDC tournament.

Against Legacy, we played really well.  The whole team left it all on the court and had fun playing.  In both matches, we won both the doubles.  Our #2 and #3 singles players were very close to their opponents.

On Saturday, we played in pink shirts and used pink tennis balls for breast cancer awareness.  Check out Hi-Liner Tennis on Facebook for photos.  The Fargo South team also had a bbq for both teams and the fans.  We all got our fill.  It was a great atmosphere for this make-up match.  Thanks Fargo South for the hospitality!

The entire day, we played loose and confident.  We didn’t let the score into our heads and just played tennis.  We by far played our best tennis of the year today.  I could not be prouder of the effort our kids put in today.  We pushed the state champions from last year in every match.  We didn’t give up on anything.  We played to win.  Awesome job.

Blake took a set off of one of the best players in the state.  Jack and Collin pushed a potential doubles state champion to 7-5, 6-3.  Austin and Hale looked better than ever in their match.  Derek Bear lost a set, then turned it around for our only win.  Bennett was rolling until he broke his strings.  A great day for all.  It was so much fun to watch and coach.  And the players agreed that it was very fun to play as well!

Next action is at home versus Grand Forks Central on Tuesday at 4pm.  This is our annual VCTA BBQ for all fans, players, and the community.  Please stop up, watch some good tennis and have a hotdog or two.

JV Comments

The JV players continue to gain valuable experience in their matches. We struggle with consistency in serving and ground strokes but are gaining confidence at net and setting up points.  Everyone proudly wore pink for breast cancer awareness!
