VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The halfway point of the 2018 EDC volleyball season is nearly here and right now the top teams in the region are neck and neck.

Unbeaten Davies is in first place, followed by 8-2 Devils Lake and 7-2 West Fargo Sheyenne. Shanley is 6-2 followed by Valley City and West Fargo who are 6-3.

Thursday night The Hi-Liners had a great chance to gain some ground in the standings when they hosted Devils Lake. Set 1 went to Valley City, The Firebirds came back and took the final 3 sets to win the match which saw 32 ties.

The Hi-Liners kept it close the whole night, something coach Mattie Cruff was happy to see

 

This season Valley City has made a change to their system, using two setters with Natalie Lenmus and Josie Berntson. The rotation gives The Hi-Liners a chance to play to their strengths

 

Tuesday night is another prime chance for Valley City to gain some ground in the standings when they play Fargo North in a 2 point match. The Spartans are currently 7th in The EDC with a 3-6 mark. They have lost their last 4 matches.
