FREMONT, Neb. (NewsDakota.com) – A game that saw three lead changes and overtime unfolded between the University of Jamestown and Midland football teams Saturday afternoon at Heedum Field. The Warriors, who are receiving votes in the top-25, needed extra time to put away the Jimmies, 35-28.

Midland took the opening drive and marched it right down to take an early 7-0 lead. That would be the last time they led until overtime. Jamestown scored 14 straight.

Jordan Mann’s shovel pass to Barry Williams lead to the first score. Jamestown got the ball back 90 seconds later on an Andrew Jensen interception of Payton Nelson and scored in two plays on a QB sneak from Mann. That was set up by a 17-yard completion to Nick Thompson.

Midland tied it before half and the teams went into the locker room tied at 14. It was the running game that did most of the damage today as both Nelson and Adrian Kellogg went over 100 rushing for Midland.

Jamestown for the second time in three weeks dominated time of possession and won in the total yards category, but didn’t win. After a Marcus Giles touchdown catch gave Jamestown the lead, Midland answered with the first of two Jordan Jackson scores.

Mann lead the Jimmies on a responsive drive that culminated with a Thompson TD early in the fourth. Midland again tied it quickly.

However, the Warriors had two chances in the fourth quarter to take but turned the ball in Jimmie territory. One on an interception from Cedric Terry and the other a fumble.

In overtime, Jackson caught his second touchdown on the opening drive. It was his 14th catch of the year and his seventh score.

After one first down, Jamestown went out on downs to end the game.

The Jimmies (1-5) return home to Rollie Greeno Field for homecoming on Saturday, October 6th against Briar Cliff.
