MEDINA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – They say you want to be playing your best at the end of the season. With a three set win over LaMoure-Litchville/Marion in the regular season finale for both teams, that is exactly what Medina/Pingree-Buchanan is doing heading into the District tournament next week.

Medina/Pingree-Buchanan won 25-21, 25-22 and 25-20. The Thunder’s defense was a key in this match as they came up with 60 digs in the three sets. Head Coach Jaci Connell says that is something they have been working on.

 

 

Libero Dani Eissinger led the way with 22 digs. Megan Moser had a double-double with a game high 20 kills and 14 digs. Gracie Bohl filled the stat sheet with six kills, nine set assists and eight digs. Alexis Vandeberghe added five kills and Calli Mack had 15 set assists.

Ellie Holen led the Loboes with 10 kills. Alyssa Ragan had eight and Ashlyn Rode added five. Allie Hebl had 24 set assists.

Both teams served very well. LaMoure-Litchville/Marion was 61 for 65 for 93.8 percent and seven aces. Medina/Pingree-Buchanan was 71-74 for 95.9 percent and four aces.

Coach Connell says the team has a lot of confidence heading into next week’s District 6 tournament.

 

 

Medina-Pingree-Buchanan, now 16-14 on the year, opens up District 6 play on Monday night against Kidder County, a team they swept in September. The District 6 tourney will be played in Hazelton.

LaMoure-Litchville/Marion, who had their eight match winning streak snapped, fall to 24-8. They open District 5 play on Thursday against Barnes County North. A team they have swept twice this year. The District 5 Tournament will be in Ellendale and can be heard on Thunder Country 98.3 and newsdakota.com beginning with coverage at 4pm on Thursday.
