JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a workplace incident at the City of Jamestown Landfill after a man was ran over by a dump truck and payloader.

A contractor was working in an area of the landfill and was struck and run over by a dump truck and payloader Saturday afternoon. The 65 year-old man was pronounced dead at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center after being transported by ambulance.

The dump truck was unoccupied at the time of the incident. The payloader driver was not injured.

The payloader was attempting to push start the dump truck. The driver approached the rear and began to push it forward. The 65 year-old contractor was walking in front of the dump truck when the payloader began to push and was run over by both vehicles. The man was employed by On the Level Construction, Inc. from Grafton.

The identity of the man was not immediately released. The North Dakota Highway Patrol was assisted by the Jamestown Police Department, Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, and Jamestown Ambulance.
