JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For seven years, the Jamestown Kiwanis Club and volunteers has packaged more than 1.1 million meals that were then distributed to the states homeless population.

More than 300 volunteers last year packaged meals for hungry families in North Dakota and Minnesota. Club Member Angela Martini says each meal is put together and prepared for distribution through the Great Plains Food Bank.

In 2017, volunteers packaged around 100,000 meals. Martini says the need is so great, the meals were gone quickly.

Kristen Atwood says for $0.25 per meal, it goes a long way to help those in need.

The club is close to reaching their fundraising goal and will use all money donated to package more meals. The event to package will be on Saturday, November 3rd at Stutsman Harley Davidson from 9 AM to 12 PM.
