OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It has been 13 years since Oakes has had a volleyball team in the State Tournament. Thursday that streak will end when the Tornadoes meet Dickinson Trinity in the final match of the quarterfinal round at the Minot State Dome.

Oakes, champions from Region 3, head into the tournament winners of six straight matches and own a 31-7 record. The Titans are making their third straight state appearance and have won 14 in a row with a 37-5 mark.

Head Coach Shari Christianson says this team has been working toward this goal since before the season began.

Working as a team and achieving success as a team is a philosophy that Coach Christianson says has been the approach of this team all season.

Even though these two teams have not met this season, they did meet last year and Christianson says they know what kind of a team the Titans are.

First serve is set for Thursday night at 7pm with the pregame show at 6:30 on 1220 AM/ 95.9 FM The Tornado and newsdakota.com
