MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- They waited 13 years to play in a state tournament and the Oakes Tornadoes made it count. They swept Dickinson Trinity 25-11, 25-17, 25-12 to advance to the semifinals at the State \Volleyball Tournament at the Minot State Dome.

Nicole Schmitz led the offense with 11 kills and only two attack errors in 33 attempts for a .273 attack percentage. Jaida Seyer had a .455 percentage with six kills. Sadie Hansen added four kills to go along with 20 set assists and nine digs. Seyer had eight digs. Claire Wagner led the defense with 14 digs. Schmitz had two of the five solo blocks for the Tornadoes. As a team,Oakes servedat a 91.8 percent rate with eleven aces. Schmitz led the team there to with six aces.

Alexa Walby led the Titans, who had a 14 match winning streak snapped,with 20 set assists and 12 digs for the double-double.Macy Kuntz had eight kills and seven digs and Bre Tessier had six kills and a team high 17 digs.

Oakes improves to 32-7 and have won seven matches in a row. The will face top seed Langdon/Edmore/Munich in the semifinals Friday night. The Cardinals swept Kenmare 25-14, 25-8, 25-17 to improve to 42-3 on the year.
