JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a substantial donation from longtime Jamestown resident Shirley Rolfs Meidinger, excitement has begun to build for the planned outdoor water facility at the Two Rivers Activity Center.

Outdoor water is part of Phase II, which includes an endowment fund, indoor playground, climbing wall, racquetball/walleyball courts and an additional gymnasium. The first item is outdoor water, which Facilities Manager Amy Walters says becomes even more of a reality after the donation by Meidinger.

Walters says at this point, they’re looking at the funds needed not only for construction and design, but also operations to maintain the outdoor facility once it’s constructed.

Walters says the timing is good because this is the time of the year when plans and designs can be made and move forward while also raising money to build it. She says with Meidinger’s contribution, the end is in sight.

Recently, the Jamestown Park Board approved $14,000 for designing the outdoor water park and structures by Zerrberg Architects of Fargo. Designing is expected to completed by January 2019.

The project is estimated to be around $2 million.
