CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington Fire Department will be the recipient of a $90,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Trust to support their Fire Safety Project.

Fire Chief Ken Wangen says the grant requested funds are to replace the Fire Departments aging Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.

“This Project has been a 3 year mission to replace all of our Personal Protective Equipment,” Wangen stated. “The project started in early 2016 with the replacement of our helmets, boots, gloves and protective hoods. It then turned to the protective coats and pants which was completed earlier in the year.”

Chief Wangen says their final piece was to replace the 15 year-old Self Contained Breathing Apparatus inventory.

“This Grant from Otto Bremer Trust fully funds the replacement of that inventory.”

Otto Bremer Trust is a private charitable trust established in 1944 by founder Otto Bremer in St. Paul, Minnesota. The mission of the trust is to assist people in achieving full economic, civic and social participation in and for the betterment of their communities.
