JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Jamestown has been tasked with discussing and thinking about future improvements through the State Transportation Improvement Plan and NDDOT.

City Engineer Travis Dillman says every year, the city needs to come up with a list of priorities they would like to see accomplished. This list is then sent to the North Dakota Department of Transportation for them to consider potential funding in order to meet the specifications of the projects on the list.

Last year, the city council set the priority to be the 12th Avenue East Railroad Grade separation. The second was the 17th Avenue SW I-94 overpass and exit 256. Dillman said because it was a new council, they would need to determine their list of priorities.

Dillman says some of the projects include Highway 20 and creating an overpass installed on 5th Avenue East to tie into 3rd Avenue Southeast. Other projects included an overpass on 7th Avenue, overpass on 12th Avenue overpass, and adjusting 12th Avenue and 3rd Street to flow better. Dillman says a lot of the recommended projects include overpasses to increase emergency access to parts of the community.

There was no need to take action, but Dillman says the priority list would be due by the end of December.
