JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington School District and Jamestown School District have partnered for a program through the North Dakota State University called the Teacher Leadership Academy.

According to NDSU, the Educational Leadership Program is “committed to transforming students’ passion for education with the professional and organizational skills necessary to be leaders in and of education who focus on student success.” The program will bring the opportunity for teachers to receive a master’s degree in School Building and District Leadership and Teacher Leadership or an Educational Specialist Degree.

Carrington Superintendent Dr. Brian Duchscherer says they are receiving applications and are teaming up with Jamestown to bring in the course. The partnership comes to help ensure that at least between 15 to 20 teachers will be available to take the course, which is required.

“Graduates from the Educational Leadership Program will gain the knowledge, skills, and expertise to lead others by making informed decisions based on data, engaging in problem solving, planning, research, assessment, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict-resolution,” NDSU states.

The Jamestown Public School Board agreed to enter the program Monday evening.
