BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Muzzleloader hunting season kicks off at noon Central today.

The North Dakota Game & Fish Department reports that the season is restricted to antlered or antlerless white-tailed deer only as described on their license.

Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says earlier this week, several National Wildlife Refuges were opened for upland game hunting.

Leier says another thing for outdoor enthusiast to get excited about is ice formation. He added that safety should be at the forefront as ice develops.

Leier also says dark house spearing season is open for northern pike and non-game species. You don’t need a special license to partake, but need a regular license if your 16 years of age or older.
