SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (JimmieAthletics.com) – Five players hit for double figures as the University of Jamestown men’s basketball team defeated No. 21 Dordt College 96-89 in overtime Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
*The Jimmies struggled shooting in the first half, making just nine of their 31 attempts from the field. UJ was 4 of 15 from three-point range while trailing 39-32 at the break.
*Dordt took their biggest lead of the game after a Chad Barkema bucket made it 46-34 with 18:26 in the second half.
*UJ gradually chipped away at the deficit and went ahead 52-51 after Jack Talley (SO/Sioux Falls, SD)’s three at the 14:11 mark.
*Following Talley’s go-ahead three, there were 12 lead changes and 10 ties in the remainder of regulation.
*Josh VanLingen made three game-tying three-pointers for the Defenders in a span of 1:59.
*In overtime, Dordt led 89-88 with 1:53, but UJ scored the final eight points of the game to finish off the victory.

FOR UJ
*Jon Purintun (SR/Linton, ND) had 19 points and three assists.
*Kevin Oberwesier recorded a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. He also had four assists.
*Brock Schrom (SO/Grand Rapids, MN) added 15 points, Isaiah Dobson (JR/Stillwater, MN) 14, and Brady Birch (SO/Melrose, MN) 13 off the bench.
*Jack Talley was one point shy of a double-double (9 points, 10 rebounds).
*Jack Frazier (JR/Salem, OR) finished with five assists and five points.
*The Jimmies outrebounded Dordt 50-45.

FOR DORDT
*VanLingen led all players with 21 points.
*Zach Bussard had 17 points and 10 boards off the bench.
*Jesse Jansma and Garrett Franken each had 14. Barkema was also in double figures with 11.
*Chandler Brunsting added seven points, seven rebounds, five assists, and four steals.

UP NEXT
*The Jimmies return home to host Northwestern (Iowa) Wednesday, December 5 at 8 p.m.
