BISMARCK, N.D. (PrairiePublic) – The North Dakota National Guard is a little bit below its authorized strength.

Guard Adjutant General Alan Dohrmann.

Dohrmann says with a good economy, recruiting is getting tougher. He says the Guard has a number of benefits to offer. He says he’s pushing Guardsmen to tell the story of the National Guard wherever and whenever they can.

Dohrmann says there is a risk to being under quota.

Dohrmann says a few years ago, the National Guard had to leave some communities because of the staffing levels. But he says people need not worry about the Guard being ready to respond when needed.
