JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The 2018 Class B Girls Stutsman County Basketball Tournament kicked off on Thursday at the Jamestown Civic Center with four games. The first day had the number one seeds from district five and six winning and the number two seeds from district five and six losing in overtime. Here are the first day results:

Carrington 64  Warwick 28

Senior McKenzie Johnson scored a game high 22 points including six treys to help the Cardinals move into the semifinal round Friday night. The Cardinals shot 47% from the field and 50% from three-point land, making 10 of 20 three pointers. Carrington led by as many as 37 points in the second half. Leading the way for the Lady Warriors was Senior and six year starter Madison Leaf with 10 points including two treys. Carrington is now 1-1 overall, Warwick falls to 1-3 overall.

Ellendale 51  Napoleon/Gackler-Streeter 49, OT
The second game of the day saw 11 lead changes and five ties, a close game throughout. The largest lead of the game was by Ellendale in the third quarter by eight points, NGS came back to take the lead by three points with time winding down in the fourth quarter, but Senior Sydnie Hustoft for Ellendale would nail a bank 3-pointer with just seconds left to tie the game at 47 and send it to overtime. The Imperials were held to just two points in OT, they drop to 1-2 overall, Ellendale improves to 2-1 overall. These two teams met November 27th as well, NGS won by four points. The Cardinals were led by Morgan Barton with 12 points, followed by Hustoft with 11, including three 3-pointers, Abigail Molan and Katelyn Dathe each added 10, Dathe had 10 boards as well. The Imperials were led by Alexa Young with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Medina-Pingree-Buchanon  (MPB) 53      Midkota  23
Amanda Allen had a game high 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the MPB Thunder to a 53-23 victory over Midkota. Megan Moser added 17 points for the Thunder. Midkota was paced by Emma Kollman’s 8 points and Nicole Beckley hauled in 11 rebounds for the Mustangs. MPB improved to 2-0 overall and Midkota dropped to 0-3.
South Border (SB) Mustangs  48       Edgely-Kulm-Montpeiler (EKM) Rebels  40  OT
The second overtime game of the opening round had SB outscore EKM 11-3 in the extra session and move on to the semifinals with a 48-40 victory. Faith Dockter poured in a game high 23 points and added 9 rebounds, and 4 steals to aid the Mustang victory. Emily St. Aubin added 7 points and 9 rebounds off the bench for SB and Alexis Kempf also grabed 10 rebounds for the Mustangs. Payton Brandenburg and Bailey Anderson scored 12 points each to pace the Rebels offensive attack. Avarie Carlson added 6 points and a team high 8 rebounds for EKM. SB improves to 1-1 overall and EKM drops to 1-1 on the season.
