BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown boys and girls basketball teams came to Bismarck hoping to end long droughts on the road to the Demons.

The girls had not won at Bismarck High since 2015 and for the boys it has been a lot longer. In the last five years, the Demons have won all 13 games, five in their own gym and another four at the Civic Center. Friday night, that all changed.

GBB: Jamestown 56, Bismarck 48

Courtney Petersen scored 13 of her 17 points in the first half when Jamestown built as much as a 12 point lead. Cameron Selvig scored 10 of her 17 points also in the first half.

Grace Hegerle scored all seven of her points in the second half as the Jays built a 14 point lead but had to hit free throws down the stretch to preserve the win. Petersen added 11 rebounds and three assists. Ella Falk chipped in seven points, five rebounds and three assists for Jamestown.

Megan Henderson led the Demons with 10 points. Hannah Golus had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Jamestown is now 2-0 on the young season while Bismarck falls to 1-1.

BBB: Jamestown 73, Bismarck 62

Mason Walters stepped up when the Bismarck defense neutralized leading scorer Boden Skunberg to lead the Blue Jays to a big conference road win.

Skunberg had 36 points against St. Mary’s on Tuesday, but the Demons held him to 10 points, eight coming after halftime. But Walters responded with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Jared Kallenbach had 20 points for the Jays and Ryder Lunzman added 10 along with four assists.

Head coach Jacoby Lloyd said everyone stepped up in the win.

 

 

Matt Trolliey scored 20 of his 23 points in the second half. Joe Jahner scored 14 of his 23 in the first half. They also led the team in rebounding with six and five respectively.

Jamestown is 2-0 in the conference and overall on the year and will host Legacy on Tuesday night. Bismarck falls to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the WDA.
