VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota) – Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page, Maple Valley, Milnor/North Sargent and LaMoure/Litchville-Marion picked up wins today in the final day of the 74th Annual Barnes County Girls Basketball Tournament at the W.E. Osmun Fieldhouse at Valley City State University.

7th Place: Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page 56, Griggs County Central 44

Darby Breckheimer led four Spartans in double figures with 18 points, 16 came in the first half when the Spartans built a 12 points lead. Breckheimer added six rebounds and two assists. Marissa Mitchell scored 14 points and added five steals. Josie Flaten had 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Payton Braun chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.

Jenna Larson led the Cougars with a double-double, 14 points, 12 rebounds and had four blocks. Kyrsten Sherlock and Kennedy Hanneson had ten points each.

5th Place: Maple Valley 36, Barnes County North 31 F/OT

Maddy Olson scored five points in overtime lifting the Raiders to their second win in a row. Olson hit a three-pointer from the corner with 50 seconds remaining in overtime to give her team the lead at 34-31. She would hit 2 of 4 free throws in the final seconds to seal the win. She would finish with 12 points. Courtney Hovelson had 10 and seven rebounds.

Clara Wieland led the Bison with 19 points and six rebounds. Alexis Greshik, who sent the game to overtime with a short jumper with 18.4 seconds remain in regulation, ended with six points five rebounds and three assists. Ashley McFadgen led the defense with seven steals and six defensive rebounds.

3rd Place: Milnor/North Sargent 65, Sargent Central 50

The Bulldogs of Milnor/North Sargent turned in an excellent night shooting the ball as they hit over 50 percent of their shots in route to a 3rd place finish. On defense, the Bulldogs held Sargent Central to 28 percent from the field and forced the Cadets to go 0-8 from beyond the arc in the 2nd half.

Christina Mathias produced a magnificent night scoring 26 points on 10-12 from the field in just 19 minutes. Dylan Fredrick knotted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Brynn and Allison Peterson combined to score 34 points to lead Sargent Central in a losing effort.

Championship: LaMoure/Litchville-Marion 59, Enderlin 44

In the 12th and final game of the tournament, LaMoure/Litchville-Marion (LLM) used a big second half to run away with its 4th straight Barnes County Tournament championship trophy.

Enderlin hung around for the first half. The Eagles trailed by only five after two quarters and shot 50 percent from the field, but as soon as the 2nd half started it was all Loboes. LLM outscored Enderlin 23-6 in the 3rd quarter to ignite the rout.

Kalynn Siedschlag finished with a team high 14 points and hit two crucial 3-pointers during the Loboes’ 23-6 stretch in the 3rd. Ellie Holen tacked on 13 points, too.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Katelyn Tingley and Hope Lindgren who both finished with 11 points each.
