JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Beginning February 1st, 2019, Stutsman County will be changing its emergency notification service from CodeRED to a company called Everbridge.

“Even though the change won’t occur for another few months, the process of making the switch has already begun,” Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist stated.

Bergquist informed the Stutsman County Commission earlier this month that they would remain with CodeRED for the time being while they transition.

Bergquist estimates the move will be beneficial in both cost savings and function for the county and its residents. The free service will notify Stutsman County residents in the event of a natural disaster or emergency.

“Those individuals receiving their annual property tax statements in the mail over the next few days will also be receiving an insert briefly explaining the change in notification services,” Bergquist explains. “As with CodeRED, all landline telephone numbers will automatically be entered into the Everbridge system. However, those individual with cell phones need to register their phone numbers in order to receive emergency notification messages.”

Bergquist says they are currently in the process of learning the new Stutsman Alerts system powered by Everbridge.

“But, we believe we’re ready for individuals who want to register their phones now in preparation for the February 1st switchover,” Bergsuit added.
