FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – The exteriors of many downtown Fargo buildings will have a few more colorful murals.

Fargo graphic artist Jeff Knight received a grant from the Arts Partnership that will allow him to paint mural’s that pay tribute to four music icon’s with a Fargo connection.

The first will be of jazz great Duke Ellington who recorded a historic album when he played in Fargo back in 1940. The record grabbed a Grammy 40 years later in 1980. His mural will be located on a patio wall at Front Street Saloon.

Peggy Lee who got her start on KOVC Radio in Valley City and then move to Fargo. 1960’s pop idol Bobby Vee and Bob Dylan, known as Elston Gunn got his start playing piano in Fargo for Bobby Vee’s band.
