VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Long time fire fighter Scott Magnuson is the new Fire Chief for Valley City and the Rural Fire District.

Valley City Mayor Dave Carlsrud administered the oath of office to Magnuson on January 3 just before a regular city commission meeting.

Gary Retterath retired at the end of 2018 after serving 43 years as a firefighter and 16 as the Fire Chief.

Mayor Carlsrud also administered the oath of office for Carl Martineck. He was sworn in as the new Human Resources Officer and City Attorney for the city of Valley City on January 3.

Martineck replaced Lilie Schoenack who resigned at the end of 2018 to accept another position.
