JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Mason Walters poured in a season-high 33 and pulled down 14 rebounds to lead No. 2 Jamestown to 79-57 win over Century at Jerry Meyer Arena on Saturday night.
Boden Skunberg had 19 of his 25 in the first half, but at the 13:05 mark of the second half headed to the bench with four fouls. Century was down just five at that point, 49-44. But then Walters started taking over.
Walters had 18 of his 33 after the break. Century didn’t have anyone who could match Walters one-on-one, so they brought two sometimes three defenders and it didn’t matter. The Jays rolled on a 17-2 run with Skunberg on the bench.
The win runs Jamestown to 11-0 and if they win on Tuesday at St. Mary’s they will likely be the No. 1 team in the state on Wednesday when the next poll comes out. Davies lost 78-72 to West Fargo on Thursday.
GBB: #1 Century 71, Jamestown 55.
Kameron Selvig knocked down four threes in the first nine minutes and helped Jamestown to a 35-32 lead at halftime over the top-ranked Patriots. But in the second half, it was the Lily Keplin show and the future UND Fighting Hawk lead the Pats with 30.
Century turned up the defense and held Jamestown to just 20 points in the second half.
