BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown moved to a perfect 12-0 on the season with a 90-70 win over St. Mary’s Tuesday night in Bismarck.

The win gave Jamestown the season sweep and likely moved the Jays to the top spot in the new poll due out Wednesday night. The game was tied at 7 and in the blink of an eye, it was over. The Jays went on a 20-0 run spearheaded by Mason Walters to wrestle away early control.

St. Mary’s got back within 14, but never closer. Jamestown pushes their lead as high as 34 before emptying the bench with over eight minutes left.

Skunberg lead the way with 21. Walters finished with 17. Carter Moser (12) and Ryder Lunzman (11) also in double figures.

Up next: Jamestown travels to Minot on Saturday. Tip-off at 7:30pm. The game can be heard on Q101 (101.1 FM).

GBB: St. Mary’s  61, Jamestown 54.

The story of this one will be the late basket by Hallie Schweitzer that pushed the game from a five to seven point spread. That basket in the final seconds gave the Saints the tiebreaker in the WDA standings should the two teams tie. At this moment, they are both 6-5 and fighting for #4.

Courtney Peterson scored at the buzzer to tie the game at 27 going into halftime as part of her team-high 13. The Jays then got up six right away in the second half.

St. Mary’s chipped away and used their transition offense off of Jamestown turnovers to hold off the Jays down the stretch.

Next up: the girls are at home again Minot on Friday. Tip-off at 7:30pm.
