JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On February 4th, residents of Jamestown will be seeing a slight change to their garbage and recycling pickup.
In late December, the Jamestown Public Works Committee made the decision to move to a 4-day garbage and recycling pickup schedule. The request came from Sanitation Foreman Roger Mayhew and Recycle North Dakota Director Ralph Friebel.
Friebel stated that while everyone is still included in the 4-day pickup schedule, the change made a lot of sense for the city.

Friebel says employees will get an extra day for maintenance, training and will allow the city and recycling to operate with fewer people, saving money in the process.
Pickup for garbage and recycling includes NW Jamestown on Monday, NE Jamestown on Tuesday, SW Jamestown on Wednesday, and SE Jamestown on Thursday with recycling pickup alternating in every section each week.

Friebel says residents will receive a letter from the city detailing the switch and laying out the weeks for recycling collection. He says apartments with canisters will also adhere to the new schedule. Apartments with large containers will be picked up each Wednesday.
The city of Jamestown will also use this time to change residence with difficult alleyway collection to curbside collection.
