CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Cardinals of Carrington outscored the Rebels of Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 19-6 in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory Friday night 53-44. Carrington improves to 11-7 overall and 5-1 in D5, EKM drops to 12-5 overall and 4-2 in D5. With the win, the Cardinals secured the number two seed for the upcoming District 5 boys basketball tourney which starts in Jamestown on February 22nd, Lamoure/Litchville/Marion will be the one seed in the tournament.
EKM led by four points at the end of the first and third quarters. Carrington scored eight points unanswered to end the second quarter and take a one point lead, 26-25 at halftime. Junior Seth Nelson led all scorers with 15 points, Senior Trey Rosenau added 11 points. The only player in double figures for the Rebels was Junior Cale Mathern with 11.
