VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On Monday, February 18, artist Sharon Linnehan will be presenting a gallery talk about her works which are now on  display at the Mercy Art Gallery. The talk will begin at 7 pm with light snacks to follow. The gallery where the talk will be presented is located on the first floor of CHI Mercy Health (Mercy Hospital), 570 Chautauqua Boulevard in Valley City.
Linnehan’s work uses the monotype process which she will be discussing.  This is a print making technique that results in one unique image.  The artist uses a 2400 pound etching press to do a mono type.
Linnehan has recently returned to Valley City after her retirement from teaching at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina.  She was the chair of a small art department where she taught a variety of classes including art history, drawing, painting, printmaking, art appreciation, and special topics courses.
Prior to moving to South Carolina she taught at Dickinson State University and was the director of the Dickinson University’s Art Gallery.  She holds a Masters in Fine Art in Printmaking from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and a Masters in Art Education from Michigan State University, East Lansing, and a Bachelors in Fine Art from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Linnehan’s work will be on display at the Mercy Gallery through February  22.  She has a studio at 123 Third Street NE in Valley City, and if you are interested in purchasing any of her work, contact her at 701-741-2307.
