ASHLEY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Ashley Medical Center was evacuated after the facility caught fire Tuesday morning.
Reports say damage is not extensive, but patients and nursing home residents have been displaced due to smoke damage. Crews helped evacuate residents to an unconnected parking garage before moving them to other facilities in the region.
Volunteers drove buses and ambulances to transport people to safety. Officials with the hospital expect to have the facility reopen in a few days.
The hospital reports that emergency care is being diverted to Wishek Hospital for the time being.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
