Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington boy’s basketball team outscored the Harvey-Wells County (HWC) Hornets 15-2 in the opening quarter and cruised to a 53-20 victory. Payton Smith scored all 12 of his game high points in the first half and McCoy VandeHoven added 10 points in the Cardinal victory. Trey Rosenau and Seth Nelson each added 9 points for Carrington. HWC was paced by Tate Grossman with a team high 8 points, all scored in the third quarter. The Hornets dropped to 2-14 overall on the season. Carrington wrapped up the regular season at 12-7 overall. The Cardinals will start District 5 play on February 22nd at the Jamestown Civic Center against Midkota at 6:00 P.M. Entire coverage of the District 5 tourney will be aired on Q101 and newsdakota.com
