CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the seventh time since 2012, CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington Medical Center has been named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.
Regarded as one of the industry’s most significant designations of performance excellence, the annual Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals award is based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX® from iVantage Health Analytics.
“It is an honor and privilege to be recognized seven times as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital across the United States,” states Mariann Doeling, President of CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington. “This is not accomplished without the hard work by our Medical Staff, nurses, laboratory, radiology, and every staff person in our facility who all work diligently throughout the year to assure our patients have access to high quality safe patient care.”
Hospitals recognized as a Top 100 facility scored in the top 100 among all Critical Access Hospitals nationally. Now in its ninth year, the INDEX leverages 50 rural-relevant indicators across eight pillars of hospital strength (Inpatient Market Share, Outpatient Market Chare, Cost, Charge, Quality, Outcomes, Patient Perspective and Financial Stability) to determine an overall score for each hospital. Each of the INDEX’s 50 indicators is culled from publicly-available data sources.
“Our staff understand and demonstrate commitment to achieving high goals set by government entities as well as our corporate sponsor, and within this organization. Our goal is to be the healthcare provider of choice for those in our service area as we continue to provide the superior healthcare our patients have come to know. I am very proud of those who work for CHI St. Alexius Health Carrington and understand the importance of local healthcare to our community,” continues Doeling.
“In an era of increased complexity and uncertainty, Top 100 hospitals have established themselves as a bellwether for rural provider performance,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “Top 100 status is a real indicator of how proactive these hospitals are when it comes to pushing for performance improvement in areas such as quality, outcomes, patient safety, market share and finance.”
Additionally, CHI St. Alexius Health, Carrington was named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by the National Rural Health Association.
