KULM, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What started out as just an interest for Lorne Liechty has turned into a lifetime hobby.
Liechty has been collecting the signatures of every United States President for the past 20 years. He says he started his collection when he obtained a signed piece from Abraham Lincoln.

Once he won a bid of a military commission signed by Lincoln, he was immediately hooked. He says his most prized signature is Franklin Roosevelt’s letter thanking a citizen for use of binoculars during World War I.

Liechty says his collection includes signatures from all presidents including President Donald Trump. He says now that he’s completed this signature collection, he began bringing them to colleges and schools in Texas for students and the public to see them.
Formally from Kulm and having graduated from Jamestown Public Schools in 1973, Liechty decided it would be fitting to bring his collection back to North Dakota for Presidents Day.

Liechty says his hope with this collection is to inspire and educate kids about what it takes to be a leader and even a President of the United States.

Liechty will have his presidential signature collection on display at Kulm Public School on Monday, February 18th for the public at 6 PM. Free-will donation will cover admission and all proceeds will go toward’s Kulm Public School’s Sophomore and junior trip to Washington, D.C. this Spring.
