    1. BC Historical Society Lecture Series: Mike Watterson

      The Barnes County Historical Society Lecture Series Presents: Mike Watterson – “Greece, Athens, Aegean Island Cruise and Western Turkey”, Thursday, February 23rd at 7:00 PM in the Barnes County Museum in downtown Valley City.

      Greece, known as the cradle of Western civilization beckons you with its proud monuments, sun-drenched isles, and friendly people.

      Mike and Randi Watterson have traveled to Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and recently to Greece and Turkey.

      All lectures are at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum, are free and open to the public and are held in conjunction with Valley City State University.

    1. Chili Cook-Off & Community Olympics

      Monday, March 6th, 2017

      Chili Cook-Off: Participants are required to prepare at least 2 roasters of chili.  Setup will start at 4:00 PM in the ND Winter Show Event Center Main Arena.  The west doors will open promptly at 4:00 PM to let vehicles in for setup.  All vehicles must leave the arena at 4:45 PM.  All vehicles must enter and exit at the same time due to a new heating system in the building.  Teams must be ready to serve for judging at 5:00 PM.

      Community Olympics: Teams of at least 6-8 individuals are commended to participate in several fun and creative “Olympic Events”.  The Community Olympics will begin at 7:00 PM in the ND Winter Show Event Center Main Arena.

      Participation Fees: Fees are $10 per team for the Chili Cook-Off and $20 for the Community Olympics.  If your business or organization participates in both, the fee is $25.  Please include payment with your registration form.

      More information will be sent upon receipt of your registration.  We look forward to seeing your Chili Cook-Off and Community Olympics teams on Monday night.  It’s a great way to get involved and have LOTS of fun.  Sign up today!  Please register with the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce by February 27, 2017.
