VCHS Music Students Fruit Sale Fundraiser
Oct 17 – Nov 5 all-day

The VCHS 9th-12th grade band and choir students are ready to sell fruit for the third year in a row.  This heart-healthy fundraiser helps students earn individual funds to attend the NYC Heritage Festival, a high school music competition.  In the last competition, VCHS was well represented, as both the band and choir earned the highest rating, a gold star.

The VCHS Music Booster parents are helping coordinate this fundraiser.  Parents Amy Noeske, Sue Lloyd, and Brenda White are co-chairing the fundraiser again this year.  They fully support this effort, as they know that eating plenty of fruits and vegetables has health benefits such as a decreased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and some cancers.

Last year 973 cases of fruit arrived in VC in the beginning of December.  This year students are ready to sell even more fruit, and encourage you to help them.

Many of the same options will be offered this year, including a variety of apples, oranges, grapefruit, pears, clementines, and pineapple.  Box sizes vary, allowing for a range of price options.  Due to the recent hurricanes, the citrus supply is much lower than normal, so the cost of grapefruit and oranges has increased.

Supplying the fruit in Minn-Tex, a family company based in Windom, Minnesota.  They’ve been working with organizations to fundraise with fruit since 1981.  Their fruit is grown in Texas, Florida, California, and Washington.  VCHS is happy to partner with Minn-
Tex, as they continue to offer high quality fruit at reasonable prices.

The fruit will arrive in early to mid December, so it makes a great Christmas gift.  Contact your favorite band or choir student between October 17th and November 5th to order your fruit.  If you don’t know a student, call the high school office at 845-0843, extension 2, to put your name on a list for a Music Booster parent to call you back to order your holiday fruit.

Let’s help the VCHS band and choir students earn their way to an amazing adventure while nourishing our bodies in a healthy way!
