Rescue volunteers will be in Stutsman and Barnes
Counties planting soybeans this week for injured or sick
farmers.

Rescue founder Bill Gross said crews will be helping a
farm families near Nome, Spiritwood and Valley City this
week. Brand Strand had a stroke, he farms near Nome.
Stan Horst broke his leg. He farms near Valley City.
He said
crews will be planting for Jack and Karen Lueck near
Spiritwood this week. Jack had by-pass surgery two
months ago. Gross said planting for farmers near Lamoure
and Ellendale is complete.

Bismarck, ND -- Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem says
schools in North Dakota don't have to perform criminal
background checks on employees but they can do so.
Stenehjem says the law allows public an non public
schools to request the criminal history of current and
prospective employees as well as volunteers who have
unsupervised contact with students.
Bismarck, ND -- The North Dakota Health
Department and the federal Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention are planning a study on nearly 700 people
who eat meat from wild game harvested with lead bullets.
The study will investigate whether there are any health
risks for people who eat the meat.

The Agriculture Department says wet weather in North
Dakota hurt planting progress last week and cool weather
slowed crop growth. The agency says in it's weekly crop
report that emergence was behind average for all small
grains.
Dickinson, N.D. About 100 National
Guardsmen from western North Dakota are heading to
Arizona next month to help with security on the U-S
Mexico border for 20 days. The soldiers are with the
Williston-based 818th Engineer Company and the
Dickinson-based 816th.
Enderlin, ND -- An Enderlin business has been hit
by fire for the second time in less than two months.
Monday afternoon's blaze at Fraedrich Transport
destroyed a large pile of railroad ties. An early April
fire destroyed a shop and more than a million dollars
worth of equipment.
Fargo, ND -- It continues to be dry in North
Dakota, despite recent moisture in some areas. The
Agriculture Department says in its weekly crop report
that topsoil moisture supplies statewide are rated only
44 percent adequate to surplus.

Stutsman Co. Road Meeting

Stutsman County Commissioners, Dale Marks and Doug
Kaiser will be meeting at 7pm tonight
at the 281 Stop in Pingree. They will present the
Stutsman county road proposition to repair and maintain
county roads that will be on the June 10 primary
election ballot.
A question and answer session will follow the
presentation .
Marketplace For Kids

The 2008 Marketplace for Kids Education day took place
Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center. Students from
various schools attended classes and put on displays in
order to obtain the building blocks for
entrepreneurship.
