The Valley City State University Viking
Softball team completed its 2008 season at the Dakota Athletic Conference
tournament. With the 2-2 tournament mark, the Vikings finished the season with 25
wins versus 26 losses. The win total is the third straight season that the Vikings
have reached the 25 win mark. Only one other team in the DAC has been able to
accomplish that feat (Dickinson State). Read More

The
Jamestown High School baseball team split a West Region doubleheader at Jack Brown Stadium
Thursday against St. Mary's. Game one went to the Saints in 12 innings 2-1. Tim Smith took
the loss. Jamestown had only four hits. Game two went to the Jays 10-2, as the bats woke
up for 11 hits and Jamestown starting pitcher Levi Gaunska shut down St. Mary's, holding
the saints to only two hits and improved his record to 3-1. Reid Monson had a bases loaded
double and three RBI, Kyle Walden chipped in two hits including a triple, and Ian Hogan
had two hits. Jamestown is 6-12 and 2-9 in the West. They host Belcourt Saturday at Jack
Brown at 1:00.

The
Jamestown High School boys golf team shot a 362 Thursday at Hawktree in Bismarck and
finished ninth. Top scores were turned in by Blake Harris with an 86, and Miles Traiser
with an 87. Austin Hoggarth shot a 92. The Blue Jays head to Belcourt Friday for another
West Region meet. The girls soccer team is playing for a state tournament berth Friday
night when they host Minot at 7:00. Jamestown needs a win to get in. The girls tennis team
will host Minot Ryan in a non-conference duel Friday at Bolinger Tennis Courts at 4:00.

The
Grand Forks Central Knights play the Valley City Hi-Liners in high school EDC baseball at
1pm on Saturday. KOVC AM-1490 will broadcast the 1st game with pre-game starting at
12:50. Come early and join the Baseball Association for a Bar-B-Q fundraiser
starting at 10:30am at Charlie Brown Memorial Baseball Field. A $4.00 donation will
get your a hamburger or brat, chips and drink.

Jamestown Wins Commissioners Cup

Jamestown College is the winner of
the 2007-08 Dakota Athletic Conference Commissioner's Cup.
Jamestown compiled 115.5 points to win the honor. Black Hills State finished second with 110, Dickinson State was
third with 106 followed by Minot State with 91, Dakota State with 62, South Dakota Mines
with 57, Mayville State with 40.5 and Valley City State with 37.
The Commissioners Cup is awarded to the
member institution with the best overall record in conference competition. Points are
given based on each schools finish in conference sports that include a conference
championship.

The
Jamestown High School baseball team returns to West Region play Thursday with a trip to
Bismarck to battle St. Mary's starting at 4:30. Jamestown is 5-12 overall and 1-9 in the
West. The boys golf team is also in Bismarck Thursday for a West Region meet at Hawktree.
This is a make-up date, as this meet was weathered out last Friday.

The
Jamestown College baseball team opens up play Wednesday in the Region 3 tournament in
Mayville by facing the defending champions Northwestern, Iowa. The #2 seeded Red Raiders
are 26-16, while the #5 Jimmies are 26-16. "It's a fresh start and we are
excited." said Jimmie head coach Tom Hager. "This is our 8th regional tournament
appearance in a row, and we feel that we have a very good chance. We're hoping our talent
and experience will pay off." The Jimmies will face a Major League scouted pitcher in
Mihai Burlea. "He's from Romania, he's tall and lanky, and throws in the 90's and is
19-4 over the past two seasons." said Hager. First pitch is at 1. It's a
double-elimination format, and the winner hosts the super-regionals next week.

Kaleigh Will a sophomore first baseman from
Portage La Prairie, Manitoba has been selected to the Dakota Athletic
Conference All Conference Team.

Will was at or near the top in several
statistical categories for the Vikings in 2008. Will hit for a 351 batting average
with a team leading 50 runs scored and 59 hits and three triples. Will also
collected nine doubles, four home runs and 25 rbis, collected 17 walks and was 22
for 25 in stolen base attempts. She also played outstanding defense at first base
garnering a .974 fielding percentage.
Hathaway DAC Player of the Week

Krystal Hathaway a
sophomore pitcher/designated player from Winnipeg, MB, Canada has been selected as the
Dakota Athletic Conference Player of the Week for April 28-May 4.

Hathaway batted .609
with a 1.043 slugging percentage in helping the Vikings to a 5-3 record. For the
week, she was 14 of 23 with one double and three home runs, along with nine RBI, seven
runs scored and one base-on-balls.

The
Jamestown High School track and field teams picked up wins at Devils Lake on Monday night.
The boys team racked up up 174 points, and the girls scored 90. Nate Bivins won the 100,
200 and was 2nd in the Javelin. Landon Rachel took 3rd in the 400. Jordan Slusser was 2nd
in the 800. Justin Slusser won the 3200. Tate Carlson won the 110 hurdles. Brian Sinner
won the high jump. Jamestown won the 1600 and 3200 relays. For the girls, Beth
McMillan was 3rd in the 800, Lindsay Kautzman took 2nd in the 3200, Kara Nygaard was 2nd
in the high jump, Nikki Iverson won the triple jump, and 2nd in the long jump. The girls
also won the 3200 relay. Next up is the AL Cassell Relays Saturday at Rollie Greeno Field
in Jamestown.

Jamestown High School girls soccer team lost a west region game in Bismarck to the Demons
Tuesday night 2-0. Jamestown is 6-6-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the west, and will need a win
over Minot Friday night to qualify for State. The game will be played at the Rotary Soccer
Field.

Blue Jay Girls tennis team picked up a 6-3 west region win over Bismarck Tuesday at
Bolinger Tennis Courts. Cally Musland, Megan Stark, Sam Kemmet and Tania Bjone all earned
wins in singles, and Musland and Stark and Bjone and Kemmet teamed up for wins in doubles.
Jamestown improves to 3-4 in conference play and will host Minot Ryan in non-conference
action on Friday at Bolinger Tennis Courts.

10:30am at Charlie Brown Memorial Baseball Field, prior the Hi-Liners doubleheader with
the Grand Forks Central Knights. For a $4.00 donation, the baseball teams parents
will serve you a hamburger or brat, chips and drink. Donations help fund the Valley

The
Jamestown High School baseball team got back to their winning ways Tuesday at Jack Brown
Stadium. The Jays, led by Brandon Gange beat VC 14-4 in 6 innings. Gange had three doubles
and 4 RBI, and Gerard Mortenson earned his first win in his first start and had 2 hits and
scored twice. Levi Gaunska had 3 hits, a walk and 2 runs and 2 rbi. Ross Hogan had 2
hits and a walk and 2 rbi and a run scored. It was a rough day for VC pitcher Issac
Olsen, he lasted just 1/3 of an inning, allowing 6 runs to take the loss. Trent Egan and
Derek Zitzow had 2 hits for the Hi-Liners. Jamestown improved to 5-12 and plays at
Bismarck Saint Marys on Thursday. Valley City slipped to 3-12. Valley is at Wahpeton
Thursday for a 5pm doubleheader. Game 1 is an EDC game.

LaMoure-Litchville-Marion girls goft team has qualified for state by winning the region
one tournament in Lisbon. Mayville-Portland-Clifford-Galesburg won region two in
Carrington. The State B Girls Golf Tournament will be held May 27-28 in Fargo at Oxbow.
