reservoir releases were held at 1575 cubic feet per second (cfs) from Jamestown Reservoir. At Pipestem Reservoir releases were held at 200 cfs. Including runoff within the city of Jamestown, these releases result in a flow of approximately 1800 cfs at the James River at Jamestown stream gage.
Over the next several days releases will be held at approximately these levels. Small changes in releases may be made based upon flow measurements by the U.S. Geological Survey or if rainfall runoff occurs within the city of Jamestown.
An additional stream gage on the James River has been installed by the U.S. Geological Survey on the 5th Street bridge in Jamestown. Hourly river level readings at this stream gage are available on the U.S. Geological Survey website at http://nd.water.usgs.gov/floodinfo/james.html.
Residents along the James River in Jamestown should continue to monitor conditions along the James River and take necessary actions to prevent flood damages. Jamestown city officials should be contacted at 701-252-5900 ext. 126 if assistance is needed to determine height requirements for protective measures.
