Valley City Girls Track and Field Team 2011

The Hi-Liner girls track team picked up a pair of qualifiers recently at a meet Tuesday. Molly Willson and Jenna Jacob both qualified in the 100 meter dash.  Willson won the meet with a 12.65, and Jacob was third with a 12.79.

The team of Willson, Jacob, Mary Faure, and another runner won the 400 and 800 meter relays.  A second Hi-Liner team was sixth in the 400 meter relay in fifth in the 800 meter relay.  The Hi-Liners also placed third in the 3200 meter relay.

April Berntson was fourth in the 1600 meter run, Bekah Peterson was sixth in the 300 meter hurdles and seventh in the 100 meter hurdles.  Kayla Engelhard was seventh in the 200 meter dash, and Allyson Suhr was seventh in the 800 meter run.

In the field events, Jenna Coghlan won the javelin, and eighth-grader Abby Brown surprised a few fans with a third-place in the triple jump, leaping 31’11”.  Mary Faure and Bekah Peterson were sixth and seventh in the triple jump.  Faure capped her day with a title in the long jump.

The Hi-Liner girls won the meet with 94 points, 4.5 ahead of Kindred.  Shanley and Northern Cass were third and fourth, with Central Cass fifth.

Just a handful of Hi-Liner boys competed.  Paul Viland was second in the pole vault, Nick Lee was fifth in the 1600 meter run and sixth in the 800 meter run, and Brandon Naeseth was seventh in the 400 meter run.
