Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of investigating a homicide, and has two people in custody after the body of a young black male was found north of Interstate 94 west of County Road 62 near Spiritwood on Saturday afternoon. The victim has been identified as 18 year old Abdi Ali Ahmed.

Sheriff Chad Kaiser says a call was received at 12:31 p.m. Saturday afternoon that a body had been found in a ditch in the area on the edge of a dirt field.

At 6:43 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office started looking for a vehicle that a suspect was a passenger in; that vehicle was found and stopped at 7:20 in Jamestown and 33 year old Leron Lee Howard of Jamestown, aka Ra Ra, was taken into custody.

22 year old Janelle Alexandria Cave of Jamestown was also taken into custody.

An autopsy is scheduled by the North Dakota Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death of the victim.

Both suspects were charged in District Court in Stutsman County on Monday with murder and conspiracy to commit murder, both Class AA Felonies. Bond For each suspect was set at $450,000. Howard requested a public defender, while Cave indicated she would seek to retain her own council, dates have not been set for either of those charged next appearance in court.

The Stutsman County Sherrif’s Office has been assisted by the Jamestown Police Department, and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Persons with any information on the homicide are asked to call the Stutsman County Sherrif’s Office at 701-252-9000.
