than 100 people protested the treatment that police chief Dean Ross has received from the city during a rally today outside the front door of city hall.

Ross told cheering supporters that it’s time for city administrator Jon Cameron to go. Ross called him a vindictive person who is controlling the mayor and other city commissioners.

Ross was to report back to work at 8am on Friday. Instead the city administrator informed him Ross on Thursday by a text message that he would be placed on paid administrative leave until further notice.

The crowd started to chant “Dean Ross for Mayor” at the end of the rally.

Ron Olson is one of the members of the recall committee to have Mayor Bob Werkhoven and Kenny Evenson removed from office. Olson says the treatment of Ross by the city isn’t right.

City commissioner Matt Pedersen was outside city hall witnessing the rally. Pedersen questioned the Mayor Werkhoven and city administrator Jon Cameron’s handling of the Ross situation referring to a July 6 news conference which leveled charges of misappropriation of 2 private and 2 public accounts.

Mayor Bob Werkhoven said he was surprise by Pedersen’s comments about the city news conference. Werkhoven says the police chief was put on paid administrative leave indefinitely pending the conclusion of a B-C-I investigation into the handling of 4 accounts.
