City, N.D. – High water releases from Bald Hill Dam put the Sheyenne River above 12 feet on Friday in Valley City.

Bald Hill Dam Resource manager Rich Schueneman says heavy rain this summer above Bald Hill Dam pushed more water into the Sheyenne River system. And with torrential rain on Sunday more water is expected.

Schueneman says on Sunday Bald Hill Dam was releasing 2,280 cubic feet per second.

Meanwhile, officials with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service will give a presentation to Valley City officials during the regular commission meeting on how the Corps and the National Weather Service can improve spring flood forecasting along the Sheyenne River.
