N.D.–Remodeling began in 2009 on the North Dakota Farmers Union and Farmers Union Insurance and finished this summer.  A dedication event was held this afternoon at the state office that represents the resources, strengths and heritage of 40,000 Farmers Union members.

Energy efficiency was on the mind when they remodeled the building, which is now heated and cooled with an energy efficient ground source geothermal system.  With centralized heat pumps, system efficiency will be increased while energy costs decrease.

Another feature of the new state of the art facility is also home to a conference center which can seat up to 600 people and is equipped with wireless Internet.  The room can be broken into five smaller rooms, depending on the size of the event.

The 35,768 square foot facility serves as headquarters for 19 NDFU staff, 29 Farmers Union Mutual Insurance staff, five Farmers Union Service Association staff and four National farmers Union Property and Casualty Company staff.
